Material description
The most common conventionally manufactured, medium-alloy high-speed steel. Universally applicable for all types of tools. As delivered: 260 HB. Achievable hardness: 65 HRC.
As with our cold and hot work tool steels, we offer only the most common and practical HSS steels. No substitutes. Your toolmaking department can compare the different tool steels based on their alloy composition and decide which steel to use. These comparisons are even more important for SS steels, as the different alloy compositions and manufacturing methods result in significant price differences. These differences are usually not justified by increased tool life. On pages 55 and 56, we only offer our HSS steels in the dimensions that we can produce on a high-speed forming machine (GFM forging and rolling mill).
